French Christmas markets
When you go to France you will be amazed at the amount of Christmas markets you will find throughout the streets of the cities. Paris has many markets that open between late November and early December. You will be able to find handcrafted ornaments, gifts, food, and other souvenirs from this exciting country. The market in Strasbourg is located in front of the city’s cathedral and is the oldest market in the country. It is also close enough to cross into Germany to visit some of the traditional markets there. Mulhouse, Alsace, Brest, Clermont-Ferrond, Orleans, Menton and Besancon also have some beautiful and exotic markets filled with plenty of things for you to see and enjoy.
Traditional French country cuisine
Oysters are a delicacy in France during the holidays and you can easily find this fresh ocean fair in many of the restaurants and at sidewalk vendors for a reasonable price. France’s hunting season opens in early September and guests to the country during the holiday’s can enjoy deer, boar, wild ducks, and other game birds that are featured prominently on the menus of many restaurants. Buches de Noel – or ‘Christmas Logs’ – are the traditional desert of the season in France. They are made of ice cream or sponge cake with butter cream and decorated with little plastic decorations that your children will fight over. And don’t forget to visit one of the many chocolatiers in the country for a wonderful treat.

Why not enjoy a four day Paris tour for Christmas? This guided tour will allow you to see as much of the city as possible while still enjoying the holiday season.
