Christmas in Cardiff
Cardiff has a lot to offer both locals and visitors alike when it comes to Christmas events.Cardiff is the largest city and the capital of Wales. Though the colder winter days are upon Cardiff once again, the city’s residents are not letting it dampen their holiday cheer. Being the centre of culture, sports, as well as history, Cardiff promises a lot of variety when it comes to Christmas celebrations.
Bmibaby Cardiff Winter Wonderland
Ever since this winter event was started in 2001, it has become a steady fixture of Cardiff’s Christmas celebrations. The main attraction at the Winter Wonderland is the bmibaby open air ice rink, which, believe it or not, has had more than 300,000 people going ice skating in it. This is definitely an ice skater’s paradise!
For those who do not really like ice skating, there are other attractions in the Winter Wonderland. Some of these are the ice café bar (family friendly!), a heated terrace overlooking the skating rink (free!), carousels, children’s rides, and of course, all sorts of entertainment.
The Winter Wonderland runs from 15 November until 6 January.
Cardiff Castle
A visit to Cardiff is never complete without a trip to the Cardiff Castle. Take a step back to the past and enjoy the Victorian ambiance within the castle. The staff will take their time to explain to visitors how the Bute household prepared for and celebrated Christmas.
Of course, Christmas is not complete without a visit with Santa. Even more, you can take your fill of mince pies, mulled wine, and fine Christmas music.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at the New Theatre
Enjoy this classic fairy tale brought to life by Lesley Joseph and the rest of the cast at the New Theatre. The show runs from 15 December to 26 January.
