Christmas in ScotlandThere are many reasons to enjoy Christmas in Scotland. It’s romantic and perhaps one of the more traditional places to spend the holidays in all the world.

Start by a visit to the now opened Winter Wonderland, in Edinburgh to celebrate the festive season is in magical surroundings set around Princes Street Gardens.

Edinburgh Hospice Christmas FairContinue by doing some shopping at some of Scotland’s amazing markets and shops. The shopping is inexpensive and you can buy lovely gifts for Christmas. Try shopping at the Edinburgh Hospice Christmas Fair to get that craft-like item. You’ll be able to help charity and get some nice things as well. Listen to St. Margaret’s Choir sing at the Edinburgh Hospice so that you can hear some beautiful Christmas hymns. (1st December 2007.)

Couples or families can stay at the traditional Edinburgh Sherwood Guest House, transformed for the Christmas holiday. It is a four Diamonds family-run b&b set in the Newington area of Edinburgh.

Visit a reenactment of Twas the Night Before Christmas put on outside the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre in Leith, near Edinburgh. The poem comes to life with the help of the airborne fairies, Father Christmas and flying toys–a perfect event for the entire family accompanied by a sixteen-piece live band that will play Christmas carols after the performance. A fireworks display tops it all off. (24th November 2007 - Free.)

Listen to the concert featuring the Newtongrange Silver Band on December 16th featuring the songs of Christmas and Christmas Carols at the Queen’s Hall. (Entry: £7 - £12).

Enjoy the 3rd Art-tastic Wreaths and Gifts Exhibition at the Royal Botanical Garden. Families get to create their own eco wreath using recycled materials. Hang your recycled wreath on the front door of your house. You can even make a recycled gift bag for your favorite person’s gift. (2nd December - Free.)

Listen to the Choir of St. Andrew’s and St. George’s Church along with Alina Bzhezhinska on harp. Attend the Christmas Eve Candlelight service to commemorate the birth of Christ at Cuthbert’s Cathedral in Edinburgh.
